HDTV ist das hochauflösende Fernsehen was Ihrem Fernsehbild eine neue Brillanz verleiht. Mit diesem Receiver können Sie den Fernsehsender EURO 1080 über Astra tagsüber empfangen. Um auch ab 19 Uhr die Verschlüsselte Ausstrahlung sehen zu können benötigen Sie eine Smart Karte, die man allerdings auch nachträglich erwerben kann. Das Gerät kann natürlich auch als herkömmlicher Satellitenreceiver verwendet werden.
What is HDTV?
HDTV is only one part of "digital television (DTV)", an umbrella term covering all of the digital formats. There are several different DTV picture formats offering varying levels of quality; HDTV with its widescreen picture and Dolby Digital sound is the pinnacle.
HDTVs are the highest picture quality models (720p, 1080i) with a widescreen 16:9 aspect ratio. This television lets you see uncropped widescreen movies without the black bars on top and bottom used for "letterbox" presentations (letterboxing is the method typically used to "fit" rectangular CinemaScope movies onto a square 4:3 screen).
Current European PAL television offers a resolution of 576 lines, each 720 pixels wide. HDTV at its best shows 1080 lines of 1920 pixels each, leading to over 2 million pixels, an almost 5-fold increase.
With the current analog system, TV images are created by interlace scanning, which uses two fields of alternating horizontal scanning lines (288 lines per field) to form a full picture. This picture is referred to as ""576 interlace", or 576i. With HDTV the same technique can be followed by providing two fields of 540 lines each (1080i). As an alternative, HDTV can also offer signals of complete screens, so-called progressive scanning. Here, a full frame of 720 lines (720p) fills the screen from top to bottom, eliminating lines altogether so the picture has a more filmlike feel.
